It’s probably as good a choice as any for a person of Amy Winehouse’s stature. Quick, easy and permanent… or at least until the next day’s hangover finally passes. It looks like Amy Winehouse might carry out her plans of remarrying Blake Fielder-Civil in Las Vegas of all places. This is what a source said on the matter: “They will definitely be getting married and have agreed on Las Vegas. Amy doesn’t want a traditional ceremony and wants it to be similar to their first wedding. She chose not to marry in Miami again because she thinks it could be a bad omen. She can’t stop talking to people about their future together.” Quick, easy and without too much hassle… and with respect for the Gods and omens alike, is Amy Winehouse a practical woman or what?

It looks like the singer is going to try his luck with the American Justice System in the case of his soliciting a carrot wax from an undercover policewoman. D’Angelo has pleaded not guilty to the accusations and this is what he said in a statement on the matter: “I hope the public will allow the American justice system to resolve the matter before jumping to any conclusions.” The way it was told so far, it seems that D’Angelo was the one doing all of the jumping, but he’ll probably get lucky and get off easy for this. And even if he doesn’t get off easy, it will take forever to finally pay his dues to society.

Uma Thurman’s latest film Motherhood took in a paltry $132 at the UK box office on its debut weekend.

Digital Spy reports the movie about a mother and Greenwich Village blogger preparing for her daughter’s sixth birthday party pulled in just $15 on Sunday in a three-day screening at London’s Apollo Piccadilly Circus. The website claimed one person only attended on the Sunday.

A Guardian-Observer review of the movie on Sunday would not have helped. The paper wrote: “Mayor Rudy Giuliani turfed the begging winos out of New York City, only for them to be replaced [so one infers from the films Julie & Julia and Motherhood] by blogging whiners.”

The movie, due to now go to DVD, did better in the US but was deemed a box office flop with its $50,000 takings at 48 venues last October, reaching a total of $98,900 when it wrapped up its theatrical run in November.

Lindsay Lohan is suing an online stock trading firm for $100 million, claiming a “milkaholic” baby called Lindsay used in a TV commercial is based on her.

The actress says in a lawsuit that financial firm E-Trade has caused her pain and suffering after airing the television advert, which features the talking, boyfriend-stealing tot.

Lawyers for Lohan, 23, filed a lawsuit in Nassau County Supreme Court in New York, the New York Post reports.

Lohan’s legal representative, Stephanie Ovadia, said: “Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit. They used the name Lindsay. They’re using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn’t they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message. Everybody’s talking about it and saying it’s Lindsay Lohan.”

She now hopes to get an injunction to stop the ad being broadcast.

Chris Brown, a spokesman for Grey Group, which produced the promo, said it “just used a popular baby name that happened to be the name of someone on the account team”.

E-Trade could not be reached for comment.

There is no question about it… when Madonna orders a certain type of drink, she gets it or else there will be hell to pay. This is what a source related about the unfortunate situation when Madonna didn’t get the drink she ordered while at Elton John’s pre-Oscar party: “It was left to one rather nervous waiter to tell her only Grey Goose was available and when he did all hell broke loose. Madonna was dropping F-bombs like they were going out of fashion.” Temper, temper… Madonna sure is iffy when Jesus Luz is not around. Maybe setting him up with a musical career wasn’t the smartest thing, after all: he’ll be away on tour and Madonna will be getting very, very angry… at everybody.

Japanese villagers in Taiji have dismissed the Oscar win for The Cove, a documentary about its dolphin whaling practices.

The film, which stars Isabel Lucas, is set in southwest Japan, where the village of 3,500 people – aka “Whale Town” – has been hunting dolphins and whales since the early 1600s, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Hisato Ryono, a local councilman who claims he was tricked into appearing in the film, said the dolphin whaling dubbed a big secret was known to all the locals. “Everyone around here knows about it. The water nearby turns red during the hunt. The actual killing is done in a concealed area because it is unpleasant to look at, as is true of killing cows or pigs or any other animal.

“This is a close-knit group of fishermen. The more they feel squeezed, the more they will close off to outsiders. They won’t stop this hunt because of such pressure.”

Speaking for the first time about the incident – in which she was accused of hitting driver Miodrag Mejdina with her mobile phone as he drove her about the city – Campbell said that she treats “everyone with respect”.

“On Tuesday, March 2nd I was accused of unacceptable behaviour towards a driver in New York,” she said in a statement.

“I have worked very hard on correcting my previous wrongdoings and I will not be held hostage to my past.

“I try to treat everyone with respect and I am pleased the driver has apologised. I would like to put the last few days behind me and move on.”

London-born Campbell broke her silence after 27-year-old driver Mejdina said sorry for reporting the incident to the police.

Mejdina called police on Tuesday afternoon, claiming the supermodel had hit him while he was behind the wheel in midtown Manhattan. He said she then fled on foot from the scene.

She allegedly lost her temper after the driver refused to tell her whether her boyfriend, Russian billionaire Vlad Doronin was cheating on her, sources told the New York Post, kicking and hitting the driver, leaving him with bruises under his eye.

Police have said no charges will be filed against her.

In her recent sit down interview with Oprah, Jessica Simpson finally lets John Mayer have it for exploiting their sex life in his now infamous Playboy article. The failed country singer and the soft rock crooner’s so called sexual napalm said “I tried to read the article, and I was so disappointed in him. It made me so sad, and it was really discouraging because that’s not the John that I knew…I hope he gets his life together. He did apologize. I don’t accept it. It’s just one of those things that…I don’t resent him. I’m just going to let that go. That part of my life is over.” Who knew that the blonde bombshell is actually capable of taking the smart route?

Oscars hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin had the celebrity-packed audience laughing out loud – even though most of their gags were aimed at the stars themselves.

A glaring George Clooney seemed to be off-limits – but only as part of a joke that they were too scared to make fun of him.

Baldwin and Martin began by goading Best Actress nominee Meryl Streep. Martin said: “She holds the record for most nominations by an actress. Or as I like to think of it, most losses.”

He added: “Everyone who has worked with that woman says the same thing – can that woman act and what’s with all the Nazi memorabilia?”

They turned then to Helen Mirren, with Martin saying: “Look! There’s that damn Helen Mirren!”

Baldwin corrected him: “Steve, that’s Dame Helen Mirren.”

Then it was Avatar director James Cameron’s turn to be the butt of a joke as the hosts put on 3D glasses and asked: “Is that the director of Avatar, James Cameron?”

Martin added: “It’s an amazing fact that James Cameron used to be married to the director of another nominated film The Hurt Locker, Kathryn Bigelow.” Baldwin chipped in: “She was so pleased to be nominated with him she sent him a beautiful gift basket with a timer.”

Martin, poking fun at the recent safety recall by car manufacturer Toyota, added: “And he reciprocated by sending her a Toyota.”

Both Bigelow and Cameron laughed along with the joke, just like the rest of the hosts’ targets.

Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman has reportedly been signed up as the lead in the new Spider-Man movies.

The 18-year-old lad is being tipped to take over from Tobey Maguire in the series, which is having a makeover and will feature the superhero’s high school years.

It is thought that three more movies will be made under new director Marc Webb, who was behind the flick 500 Days Of Summer.

The plot follows Peter Parker at his high school in New York and it is not yet known who will be playing his love interest, Mary Jane Watson, or his best friend Harry Osborn.

Watson was previously played by Kirsten Dunst and Osborn by James Franco, but both stars have now dropped out.

According to website The Cinema Source, the director has been speaking with James Cameron about using the same technology he used for Avatar to film the movie in 3D.

Oliver Stone, 63, who has just completed an update of his movie classic Wall Street, credits his late father with egging him on to make a “business movie”.

Stone, who has shot Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps with Michael Douglas and Carey Mulligan as a sequel to the 1987 film, said his dad worked in a brokerage firm. He said: “My dad wanted me to go to Wall Street but I wasn’t any good at mathematics. I tried hard to understand Enron. I read three books. I couldn’t understand a f***ing thing.”

He added: “There are so few good business movies, and Wall Street is an especially hard subject. To tell a story of financial manipulation on Wall Street is one of the hardest things you can do.”

Stone, who has created a revisionist JFK movie and a version of the September 11 attacks for the big screen, said it was politics, not money, that drew him to the Wall Street story, which coincidentally timed with the stock market crash of 1987.

His father, Louis Stone, died in 1985, and Wall Street was dedicated to him. Stone recalled: “We used to go to movies together. On the way out he’d always say, ‘How come no one can make a good business movie? They always make the businessmen idiots.’ He’d say: ‘Kiddo, you and I could have done it better’.”

Asked why he returned to his old stomping ground for the sequel, Stone said: “Because it’s important. It’s the collapse of capitalism and the collapse of our society. It is. Our way of life is going to change.”

But she quickly added: “No, I’m just kidding. Um, you know that.”

Holly Robinson Peete has said John Mayer has ‘issues’ after using a racial slur in a interview but said he does seem ‘remorseful’.

Peete, 45, came in for criticism when she initially said she was flattered by his comments about her in a recent interview in Playboy Magazine.

However, she hadn’t read the entire article and didn’t realise he had used an offensive term later in the interview.

She said: “I shouldn’t have commented on something when I didn’t read the whole thing.

“When you put something out there, you can’t pull it back. It was a big lesson. It was a viral hot mess.

“It happened, because I commented on something that I thought was nice. I didn’t see all the comments. I’m the one who messed up.”

Mayer has since apologised for the comments and Peete said: “He had his own issues to deal with, but I do understand that he was remorseful.”

The online stakes for Oscar winners have narrowed so much that punters may have to part with $6 to win just $1 if Jeff Bridges takes out Best Actor for Crazy Heart.

The ABC in Australia reports George Clooney could be an upset, though, for his turn in Up In The Air with current odds set at 13-1. Slightly better. Then there is Jeremy Renner for The Hurt Locker at 28-1.

While the Best Actor odds may be easy to understand, it is difficult to imagine how anyone could predict the outcome for Best Picture this Sunday at the 82nd Academy Awards.

Both hot contenders, The Hurt Locker and Avatar, are neck-and-neck at nine nominations each. Their respective directors, Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron, even once shared the same bed.
