U2 had a concert in Nashville several days ago. It went on just like any other show until Bono spotted a particular sign in the crowd which read “BLIND GUITAR PLAYER. Bring me up.” Adam Bevell’s brother-in-law had made the sign for him right there in the stadium and Adam held it over his head for the entire rock show, never imagining that the band would actually see it from the stage. At the end of the concert, Adam’s wish was granted as the crowd hoisted him up to the stage at the band’s request. Bono took his hand and led him over to a guitar, which was then strapped onto Adam. Adam chose to play his and his wife’s wedding song “All I Want it You” while the U2 lead singer sang along. At the end of the song, Adam naturally moved to give the guitar back but Bono wouldn’t take it, simply saying “I want you to have my guitar”. Wow! He deserves it though!

California, US: U2 have confirmed via video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, Sunday 25th October 2009 will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.

The Rose Bowl show is the penultimate U2 show this year – with more to come in 2010 – and already is set to host the venues biggest ever audience of over 96, 000 fans. The 360? Tour, which has been critically acclaimed and re-invents rocknroll*, will now boast unique access for fans worldwide – as fans in territories yet to be visited by the tour, or not at all, will be able to enjoy the whole show online. Managed in partnership with Live Nation, this sell-out tour has broken attendance records in most venues it has visited – its success due in part to increased capacity coupled with a lower ticket price and great sight lines afforded by the stunning in-the-round stage set. Visit U2.com or youtube.com/u2official for details of how to join in this ground-breaking on-line event.

U2 manager Paul McGuinness said – “The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the LA show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 – this time U2 can go to them, globally.”

YouTube will be streaming live across five continents. The show will be available in the usual You Tube way, as video-on-demand, following two full replays – after the live stream – on both U2.com and You Tube.

“YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands” – Chris Maxcy, Director of YouTube Partner Development. “We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favourite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”

Megan Fox has been announced to be the first host of Saturday Night Live in its 35th season premiere. Its a big honor for her. Heres to hoping that she has great comedic timing. But it may be funnier if she doesnt. Joining the actress on the premiere on September 26th as the musical guest will be superstar band U2. Following right behind them in coming weeks are Ryan Reynolds and Lady Gaga, Drew Barrymore and Regina Spektor, and Gerard Butler and Shakira. Those are some mighty big names for SNL. I am definitely tuning in to see all those shows.

The U2 frontman – who penned the score to the Broadway show with bandmate The Edge – is said to have reached out to his wealthy pals to save the extravaganza after it reportedly ran into financial trouble.

Work on the show was suspended last week after producers experienced “cash flow issues”.

It prompted rumours that the cast and crew had been released from their contracts and the whole musical had been axed. But producers insisted that was not the case.

Now Bono is being tipped as the $45 million show’s saviour.

New York Post theatre critic Michael Riedel wrote: “The help – or, more accurately, the cash – is said to be coming by way of Bono.

“Bono’s too smart to put his own money in the show, but word on the street is that he’s tapped into his vast network of rich friends and business associates to restart production.

“Designers and some stagehands go back to work today. Bono feeds half of Africa, so raising a few more million for Spider-Man shouldn’t be too difficult.”

The show is due to go into previews next February.

A representative for Bono, 49, was unavailable for comment.
