Performers Announced for VMAs

MTV has locked down performances by Adele, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne for the upcoming 2011 Video Music Awards. This will be the first time for the British singer to perform on the VMA stage. With 7 nods, I bet she’s going to head up there more than once. Chris will be making his second performance appearance. As for Lil Wayne, he’s excited about everything, saying “Being a nominee and performer on the VMAs once again is an honor because everyone doesn’t get that opportunity. Looking forward to performing on the show, and having Tha Carter IV drop the same week!” I wonder who else will perform.

Nikki Reed is Engaged

E! Online is reporting that Nikki Reed is now engaged to her boyfriend Paul McDonald. The 23-year old “Twilight” actress flashed a piece of jewelry on her left ring finger at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, which she attended with the 26-year old former American Idol contestant this past Sunday. A source confirmed that the two are engaged while Nikki would only tell E! that “He’s the one.” While celebrating her birthday in Las Vegas last month, Nikki and Paul got each other’s names tattooed on their fingers. There’s nothing like saying you’re committed to each other than a tattoo. If the news is true, congratulations to both of them.

Paz de la Huerta charged with assaulting model friend of Lindsay Lohan

Boardwalk Empire star Paz de la Huerta has been charged with assaulting a model who was partying with Lindsay Lohan. The actress is accused of throwing a glass that shattered and cut model Samantha Swetra’s leg and then punching her in the face. Paz is accused of approaching Swetra while she was sitting with a table of friends that included Lindsay as they partied in New York’s hip hotel The Standard. She was reportedly furious with the 26-year-old model – who is part of MTV’s The City reality show – after allegedly hearing her tease her for tripping and crashing into a table. “After taking in the unexpected pratfall – which, our source adds, resulted in one of de la Huerta’s breasts ‘hanging out of her dress’ – an amused Swetra yelled out ‘triple axel!’,” the New York Daily News reported. “The gibe sent de la Huerta into a rage and she threw a drink glass at Swetra’s leg and took a swing at the model’s face,” the source says. “According to our source, the actress’ fist connected squarely with Swetra’s lips and nose. “The glass, which shattered, also did some damage. ‘Blood was dripping down [Swetra's] leg,’ the source tells us. ‘Lindsay was pulling shards of glass off of it’.” De la Huerta was escorted from the club and a police spokesman said she was arrested at the same hotel about 11 p.m. on Tuesday night and taken to the Sixth Precinct stationhouse to be fingerprinted. She was charged with misdemeanor assault and given a desk appearance ticket to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on April 19. A spokesperson for de la Huerta had no immediate comment.

Safety concerns stymie Snooki’s Times Square stunt

Plans to drop Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi into a giant ball on New Year’s Eve have reportedly been scrapped amid safety concerns. The Jersey Shore star was set to become a human hamster during the stunt in Times Sqare, New York, for MTV. But according to PopEater, security officials have blocked the stunt, A source told the website: “No way would they allow this to take place. MTV rents a position in the square that night like every other media outlet. You can’t get access to the square without an official credential. You have to play by the official rules or you get kicked out, which is exactly what has happened to MTV and Snooki. The Snooki ball drop isn’t going to happen in Times Square. At midnight, the crowd and the media will be watching mayor Bloomberg, Dick Clark and the official ball drop, not a cast member of the Jersey Shore.” Instead, the drop looks set to take place in Snooki’s home town of Seaside Heights, New Jersey. MTV has yet to comment on the report.

MTV has decided to resurrect Ashton Kutcher�s reality TV series �Punk�d� but the network is not bringing the actor back with it. Instead, teen pop singer Justin Bieber will be hosting the show. According to NY Magazine, Ashton will continue to serve as executive producer of the celebrity hidden camera show via his Katalyst Entertainment production company. As much I wished that Justin would stop invading pretty much every aspect of life, I can�t wait to see the young sensation on the show. I always loved how Ashton did the intros for each prank and his rowdy comments. I wonder how Justin would do at that.

Tokio Hotel Win MTV European Music Awards

Tokio Hotel took home the “Best Group” award at the MTV European Music Awards in Berlin beating out

the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Jonas Brothers, Kings of Leon and Green Day. Bill, Tom, Georg and

Gustav also rocked an epic performance of their international single “World Behind My Wall”

complete with insane pyro and explosive stage effects. The track appears on the recently released album Humanoid.

The All-American Rejects got busy in New York City this week starting off with a special performance of their hit single “Gives You Hell.”
They took the stage with house band Wale at MTV’s VMAs show where front man Tyson Ritter debuted a new glittery look. After rocking the proverbial house, Ritter caught up with MTV news
and confirmed the long standing rumor that he will in fact be teaming up with pop powerhouse Rihanna for a yet to be recorded track. With AAR’s stock rising by the day, it only made sense for the quartet to cap their week by ringing the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange

Singers Shakira and Pink are as different as can be except when it came to their dress choice for Sunday night�s 2009 MTV VMAs. Both ladies looked equally lovely in leather dresses decorated in interlocking chains as they arrived at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City where the awards ceremony took place. But unlike some divas who would have been screaming at their stylists and staying away from each other, the two singers found each other during the show and took a picture together. It�s a good thing that they have a good sense of humor about the whole faux pas.

Katy Perry, Pink and Heidi Montag condemn Kanye West’s VMA outburst

Celebrities such as Katy Perry, Pink and Heidi Montag have taken to their Twitter pages to condemn Kanye West’s outburst at the VMAs.

During the recent awards show, Kanye jumped on stage while Taylor Swift was accepting her gong for Best Female Video and said that Beyonce had “one of the best videos of all time”.

Fellow singer Katy Perry, 24, wrote on her Twitter page about the incident: “F*** u Kanye. It’s like you stepped on a kitten.”

Singer Pink, who also performed at the show, also tweeted about Kanye’s behaviour and said: “Kanye West is the biggest piece of sh** on earth. Quote me.”

She added: “My heart goes out to Taylor Swift. She is a sweet and talented girl and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her. Beyonce is a classy lady. I feel for her, too.

“It’s not her fault at all, and she and Taylor did their thing. And douche bag got kicked out.”

The Hills star Heidi Montag also had her say and said: “Congrats @taylorswift13 on your VMA!!! You deserve it more than anyone!! I saw the devil in action when Kanye west stole your mic! U rock!!!”

Audrina Patridge says she is ready to move on from reality show The Hills

Reality star Audrina Patridge says she is ready to move on from The Hills.

The actress is over starring in the reality show.

Patridge told eonline: “I’m graduating.”

She added: “I’m moving on. At times, I feel like I’m in high school, but I didn’t even go through this stuff in high school.”

Audrina, who is currently promoting her new horror movie, Sorority Row, is going to start her own reality show when filming ends for the MTV show.

The 24-year-old said: “It’s like a job. I do it, I leave and then I forget about it.”

The new series of the Hills is set to air in the US on September 29.
