Penelope Cruz ducked a US TV host’s question when asked if she was engaged to Javier Bardem.

The 35-year-old actress appeared as a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman when the presenter asked point-blank if the pair were going to walk down the aisle soon.

She said, laughing: “I don’t feel comfortable talking about my private life in public.”

Letterman pushed her further, prompting Cruz to say: “I’ve been here a few times with you, you know I’m tough. One thing I don’t do, I don’t like talking about my personal life.”

She continued: “It’s sacred to me. It’s my life. But I don’t give details about it because I am allergic to that.”

Letterman finally asked: “So you know, but you don’t want to tell me?”

Cruz responded, giggling: “I know, but I choose not to share some things!”

Rumours were rife that Cruz and Bardem, 40, were engaged after the Spanish star was spotted wearing a sapphire and diamond sparkler on her ring finger at the premiere of new movie Broken Embraces in October.

Because of this, police are now going to shift the investigation to decide if anyone involved in the whole shinanigan gave false statement to the authorities. That would be a felony offense and could mean Rivera is in for more than she bargained for.

As if her name isn?t big enough to pull in big money, Madonna is joining forces with Gucci to raise funds for orphans in Malawi, Africa.

Reuters is reporting that the Queen of Pop and Gucci will be the hosts of a fund-raising event with dinner, a musical performance and a party on February 6, 2008 which will also mark the opening of Gucci?s largest store in the world on New York?s Fifth Avenue. The event will benefit UNICEF and the charity that Madonna co-founded in 2006, Raising Malawi.

Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie adopted son David from Malawi in October 2006 and rumor has it that she?s planning to adopt a girl from Malawi as well.

You?d hardly ever relate Kate Bosworth to music but apparently she has some connections. The actress was actually present at the invitation-only event which honored music mogul Clive Davis for his achievement as a multi-platinum record producer at The Xchange nightclub in New York City on Tuesday night.
