Daniel Radcliffe has dedicated his Trevor Project Hero Award to ‘the real heroes’ behind the charity. The 21-year-old Harry Potter star took time out from Broadway musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying to attend the Trevor Live gala in New York on Monday night. The event honours those who inspire lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youths. "The fact that I’m able to help with something like this makes me very, very proud," Radcliffe told MTV News. "It’s a huge honour, and it’s lovely of them to give it to me. I’ll say it again later, but the real heroes are the people who are staffing those call centres and picking up the phones saving lives every single day." Trevor is a non-profit organization that offers support to sexual minority youth, with a 24-hour suicide prevention hotline to help those struggling to come to terms with their sexuality. Radcliffe has been involved with the charity since 2009, and has appeared in several public service announcements for the cause. "It’s incredibly important because all over the country there are many young people who are going through difficult times coming out or accepting who they are, or coming to terms with who they are," Radcliffe said. "And it’s wonderful that compassionate, brave people work at the Trevor Project and are ready to take calls 24 hours a day to help those people."

Blair Underwood is set to make his Broadway debut in A Streetcar Named Desire. The 46-year-old actor is best known for his role in the NBC show The Event, which was recently cancelled. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will be making his debut on Broadway as Stanley Kowalski in the Tennessee Williams’ play A Streetcar Named Desire, which is being directed by Emily Mann. The show will be premiering on Broadway in the spring of 2012 but it is not yet known which theatre it will be showing at. The play follows the life of the former teacher and socialite Blanche DuBois, who moves in with her sister Stella and husband Stanley.

The Social Network actor Jesse Eisenberg is set to make his Off-Broadway debut with his new play Asuncion this autumn. The Oscar-nominated star, who also wrote the script for the production, will appear in the play which is scheduled to debut at New York’s Cherry Lane Theatre in October. The Hollywood Reporter says the show is about two students whose ideals are challenged when a Filipina woman becomes their new room mate. The production will be the 27-year-old’s debut as a playwright, although he did appear on the New York stage in an Off-Broadway production of Lucy Thurber’s Scarcity back in 2007.

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is considering a stint on Broadway when she ends The Oprah Winfrey Show’s 25-year run at the end of the month. The star has always wanted to perform on stage in New York but has been too busy with her show. But when her programme comes to an end on May 25, she can finally fulfill her Broadway ambitions. The 57-year-old told The Chicago Tribune: "I have a stack of plays in my bag right now that I am reading. "And just this past weekend, I was in New York meeting with producers. We were just talking about what would be the best route to take. But yes, this is really going to happen. Life is too short."

Daniel Radcliffe has admitted that he found dance training for his role on Broadway so strenuous that he had to take a nap on the toilet. The 21-year-old Harry Potter star plays J Pierrepont Finch in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and said that perfecting his dance moves for the musical was harder than he ever imagined. He told MTV, "With the dance, particularly, there were some days when I was just so tired halfway through. "There was one time when I was in my dance class and we were like two-and-a-quarter hours in and I just have 45 minutes left, and I was like, ‘How am I going to get through the last 45 minutes of this lesson?’. "And I actually went to the toilet, sat down on the toilet with the lid down, [set] my phone alarm for five minutes and just went to sleep for like five minutes, and I just woke up thinking, ‘Jesus, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to hack it if I can’t even get through a lesson’."

At the age of 57 supermodel Christie Brinkley has landed a role as Roxy in the new Broadway version of Chicago. Brinkley, who has been on the cover of over 500 magazines and used to be married to Billy Joel appeared on US TV programme Good Morning America to show off a few of her moves. Presenter Elizabeth Vargas, 48, said: “You are 57, you look amazing, what are you doing?” To which Christie replied: “Well the dancing has definitely done something to improve my body.” The National Lampoon’s Vacation actress also revealed that her ex-husband Uptown Girl singer Billy Joel, 61, gave her singing tips before the show. “He helped me with my projection,” she said. The UN worker also downplayed the difficulties of bringing up a child when both parents are mega-celebrities: “It’s no harder than it is for anyone else,” she said. “The only difference is that your dinners are peppered with people coming up and saying nice things.” Brinkley and Joel’s daughter, Alexa Ray, 25, is following in her mother’s footsteps by becoming a singer and model.

Julie Taymor has stepped down as the director of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark after the official opening of the musical was delayed for a sixth time. Taymor will be replaced by a new creative team to oversee rewrites on the musical, which was set to open on March 15. Producers said Taymor’s previous commitments past that date meant she could not work all the hours necessary but she will stay as part of the production team. The opening of the Broadway show has been delayed until the early summer. The production features music composed by U2 star Bono and The Edge.

Sienna Miller has admitted that she enjoyed playing a ‘vile woman’ on Broadway. The 29-year-old actress starred alongside Jonny Lee Miller in After Miss Julie, and said that it was great to be hated by the audiences. She told Stylist, “In New York, the audiences were very vocal, which was quite difficult because my character in that play was quite poisonous as a person. “Every night they’d be like, ‘oh she’s disgusting! What a vile woman’, and it’s hard not to take that personally. “At first I was really trying to go for the sympathy vote, but by the end of it I sort of loved being detestable. I was ashen on the floor, spitting on Jonny. In the end I found it really liberating.”

Dexter star Julia Stiles is heading to Broadway to star in an adaptation of the hit West End play Fat Pig. According to Daily Variety, the 29-year-old actress will appear in a spring run of the play at the Belasco Theatre in New York. The Neil LaBute-directed play, which also stars comedian Dane Cook in his Broadway debut, is scheduled to open on 26 April. This is not the first time the 10 Things I Hate About You star has appeared on Broadway she also starred in David Mamet’s Oleanna last year.
