Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am has spoken out about being the last person to work with Michael Jackson before his death.

Michael was 50 when he died suddenly after reportedly suffering a heart attack and Will told how he worked with the star on a new album.

He said: “It was going to be out of this world. It’s something Michael has never done before � a dance music album. I was very proud of it. But he was very protective and kept it under lock and key.

“After we made it I had to hand back every demo. He was a perfectionist and didn’t want anyone to hear it until it was ready.”

The star told how he worked with Michael for a year in a studio in Ireland and he talked about the last time he spoke to Michael. He said: “The last time I spoke to Michael was on Father’s Day.

“He called me to wish me happy Father’s Day even though I don’t have any children. He said: ‘I just wanted to call and say have a good day anyway.’

“I told him: ‘OK, I will grab my crotch and wish myself happy Father’s Day for all my unborn children.’ He laughed and said: ‘You’re so funny.’ I tried calling him last week, but he was always in rehearsals.

“It’s so sad. He was my friend and the biggest inspiration of my life. I’m going to miss him.”

Will said Michael’s choreographer visited him at a recent gig and told how the star wanted the Black Eyed Peas to open his London shows.

He said: “He came over and told me Michael wanted to get the Peas to open his gigs at the O2. Man, that would have been so amazing. Imagine us together on stage. Awesome.”

It’s also the first No. 1 album for the group, which had previously gone as high as No. 2. Its last set, 2005′s “Monkey Business,” bowed in the runner-up slot with a then-best 291,000.
