E! Online is reporting that Nikki Reed is now engaged to her boyfriend Paul McDonald. The 23-year old “Twilight” actress flashed a piece of jewelry on her left ring finger at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, which she attended with the 26-year old former American Idol contestant this past Sunday. A source confirmed that the two are engaged while Nikki would only tell E! that “He’s the one.” While celebrating her birthday in Las Vegas last month, Nikki and Paul got each other’s names tattooed on their fingers. There’s nothing like saying you’re committed to each other than a tattoo. If the news is true, congratulations to both of them.

The Bronx VS American Idol

One week into season 10 and American Idol has already started a scandal. After the premiere week of the reality TV talent show, I would have expected talk to be about how well Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez fared as judges, or about the weirdoes that showed up. But all of that has been overshadowed, at least in the Bronx, as people are outraged by the portrayal of the area through the eyes of Travis Orlando. The aspiring singer shared his life story about being surrounded by drugs and violence in the Bronx. Borough President Ruben Diaz wasn�t too happy about it and sent out a statement blasting the show, saying �I am thoroughly disgusted with the treatment of the Bronx on last night�s American Idol� The portrayal of the Bronx by the producers of American Idol in such an extremely negative light is not only shameful, it does not accurately represent how far the Bronx has come.� I think they�re overreacting. Are they trying to say that the 16-year old doesn�t know what goes on in his own town?

The American Idol crew is changing

Now that Simon Cowell is off chasing made-up Emmy awards, he has left a very big gap to fill on American Idol. But the Gods have been kind and judge Randy Jackson has stepped up to the challenge and is trying to fill the Earl of Exigency�s big and uncomfortable shoes. This is what a source said about Randy Jackson�s changes on the show: “It’s been like Randy has stepped up his game and is being more blunt and bottom line. He’s definitely not wishy-washy. He’s, like, rebranded himself a little.” Oh good, the contestants have someone else to destroy their self-esteem now. Finally balance has been restored on the show.

Aerosmith Dukes it Out

There are video clips of the band members of Aerosmith apparently attempting to injure one another making rounds on the internet. There�s a clip of lead singer Steven Tyler whacking guitarist Joe Perry over the head with his microphone stand during a performance of �Sweet Emotion� in New York. There�s another clip of Joe pushing Steven off the stage during �Love in an Elevator� in Toronto. Talk about some serious tension! Maybe Joe is pissed that Steven is going to be a judge on American Idol and this is how they let out their aggression. Why do they have to be so violent?

Clay Aiken Splits from Boyfriend

According to Broadway actor Reed Kelly�s MySpace page, he has split from American Idol alum Clay Aiken after two years together. The actor�s relationship status was changed to �single� and he was listening to Christina Aguilera�s break up/cheating song �You Lost Me� which has led people to believe that their relationship is over and potentially due to infidelity. It�s always a sad thing to hear that the end of a relationship is because of someone finding comfort in someone else�s arms. Apart from that, I don�t know anyone else who uses MySpace anymore. Reed needs to get in with the times and get on Facebook.

Simon Cowell is top of US reality TV

Simon Cowell has been named the most powerful person in US reality TV for the second year in a row.

The American Idol judge tops The Hollywood Reporter list of 50 that also includes fellow Brits Simon Fuller and Gordon Ramsey.

The entertainment bible speaks glowingly of the 50-year-old who heads his own production outfit, Syco Television.

In the profile they describe Cowell as being ‘a singular on-air talent able to captivate an audience in a way that no one has replicated, ten years into the reality TV era’.

The Reporter also says: “Plucked from obscurity (well, England), he became a star merely because he is compelling to watch.

“He is complex (behind that cantankerous on-air personality is an ardent dog lover who calls his mother almost every day), opinionated and driven.

“He says that: ‘being number one is verging on an obsession with me’.”

Cowell is also praised for creating a buzz with his US version of The X Factor, which won’t air for another 15 months.

“But from the beginning, Cowell held all the aces,” The Reporter says.

New Clay Aiken Album

Clay Aiken�s upcoming album on his new record label Decca Records is set to hit the shelves this coming summer. But unlike what we�ve seen from the American Idol alum from his past albums, Clay isn�t going into the pop music direction but is taking on romantic classic songs from the 50s and 60s. The singer�s album is said to be made of tracks like �Moon River�, �What King of Fool Am I?�, �Mack the Knife� and �Can�t Take My Eyes Off You�. That�s such a bore. And not to mention a tad too late. Didn�t Rod Stewart just do something like this?

Constantine Maroulis was recently spotted canoodling with NYC socialite Tinsley Mortimer but it seems that it was all for show. The American Idol alum is actually with Tinsley for her CW reality show �Empire State� which is set to air this year. A source said �He was into it, thought she was cute, and he’d have some fun doing it. He’s just building up different projects, and since this one is in New York about the life of New Yorkers, he thought he would get involved.� The singer�s handlers aren�t too thrilled with his decision though as they�d rather have Constantine focus on his Broadway performances and �other more respectable projects�. Others involved in the show aren�t too happy with the setup either fearing embarrassment due to the fake setup.

Simon Cowell’s brother reveals the star will leave American Idol

Rumours that Simon Cowell is preparing to leave American Idol, the show that made him a household name, have been fuelled by his brother Tony Cowell, who announced on his radio show Fame Game that the speculation over Simon’s impending departure was indeed correct.

“Meanwhile, Simon prepares for a new season of Idol, or should I say his last season of Idol – OK, I will, because it is,” Tony Cowell said via podcast.

“As I sit here in the sunny Caribbean with my family, a press statement is being prepared that will confirm what everyone expected: Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010 to concentrate on bringing the American version of The X-Factor to US TV in 2011.”

According to a British newspaper, Cowell will announce his departure after the upcoming season of Idol to star in an American version of his UK singing competition The X-Factor.

As I sit here with my family in the sunny Caribbean, a press statement is being prepared, which will confirm what everyone expected: Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010 to concentrate on bringing the American version of X Factor to U.S. TV in 2011.� I know that not a lot of people would really like for it to be true, because what it Idol without Simon? But the thing is, all the pieces fit and the finished puzzle says that Simon will leave the show.

LeAnn Rimes Yodels

LeAnn Rimes recently teamed up with Randy Jackson for the �It�s Y!ou Yahoo!� yodel competition at Military Island, Times Square this past Tuesday in New York City. The 27-year old country singer helped promote Yahoo!�s invitation to compete for a chance to be featured in the company�s global advertising campaign on its home page by submitting videos of themselves online performing their own rendition of the Yahoo yodel before November 8. Other artists on hand for the event were American Idol alum Kimberly Caldwell, who hosted the event, Jewel, and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. I wonder if they all tried their hand at yodelling.

Adam Lambert on Top

Coming in second place on American Idol isn�t so bad � just ask Adam Lambert. The season 8 runner up�s first album isn�t due until November 24th but it�s already made its way to the number 2 spot on the Amazon.com sales list last week. The singer is second on the list only to iconic diva Barbara Streisand who tops the chart with her new jazz album. What�s even more astonishing about Adam�s album is that it made the jump to the top of the list on its own. His record label RCA hadn�t announced that the album could be pre-ordered but that obviously didn�t stop his fans from spreading the news. And here�s an update, once the weekend rolled around, Adam made it to the top!

X Factor Coming to the US

Simon Cowell may be bringing the hit British show The X Factor over to this side of the pond. The potential deal with Fox could have the American Idol judge signed on to do 2 more seasons of the show while executive producing The X Factor for the same network. Negotiations are rumored to have Simon making $50 million for each season of AI and will probably get a similar amount for each season of The X Factor. As for the judges, it�s uncertain whether or not Simon will appear on the X Factor panel. Rumored judges include former AI judge Paula Abdul, Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole and manager Louis Walsh.

Fox, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment have officially confirmed the departure of Paula Abdul from American Idol. They released a statement saying �Paula Abdul has been an important part of the American Idol family over the last eight seasons, and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.� Sources say that Paula was asking for $20 million to continue with the show. She apparently even rejected a 30% raise. It was probably still lower than what Ryan Seacrest got offered.
