Scarlett Johansson’s father has been hospitalised after collapsing in the street just days before his daughter is set to attend the Oscars, according to reports. Karsten Johansson, 67, reportedly fell and cut his head open near his New York home on Wednesday evening. Passers-by are said to have rushed to his aid after witnessing the incident in Manhattan’s exclusive West Village: Local restaurant manager Luis Martinez said: “My host ran up to me and said, ‘There’s a gentleman outside on the concrete with his face down and bleeding everywhere.’” CCTV footage showed the Danish-born architect walking down the street when his knees appeared to give way and he fell head-first into the gutter. The newly single Iron Man 2 star was reportedly in LA at the time, but her 31-year-old sister Vanessa, who lives nearby, was contacted and followed her injured dad to Bellevue Hospital, where he is said to be in a “critical but stable condition”. The actress’s mother, Melanie Sloan, who divorced Johansson 13 years ago, did not respond to a request for comment, according to the New York Post.
