David Letterman has apologised for being “duped” into believing Lindsay Lohan would read his famous Top Ten list. The late-night talk show host explained he had received a phone call about Lohan after doing a joke about her stealing a Grammy award. Letterman says he was told that the actress loved the joke and wanted to appear on his show, so he called the CBS publicity department and told them to issue a press release. Lohan’s dad, Michael Lohan, has since said he set up her appearance but that her handlers refused to allow her to take part. Lohan herself Tweeted that she had no knowledge of the appearance. “I have no one to blame but myself and boy is my face red,” Letterman said sarcastically on his show. “I hope I didn’t embarrass you Lindsay and your family. Does it seem like I am always apologising for something? I just can’t help myself, I get too excited.”
