Kate Middleton’s Reiss dress flies off the shelves in NYC
Kate Middleton’s famed Reiss dress is flying off the shelves in The Big Apple after the brand re-launched the dress in shops. The cream-colored frock Kate wore for her official engagement photos with Prince William has been dashed back onto the racks – but princess wannabes will have to hurry if they want one. Reiss employees say the dress, costing $350 in New York, has been selling out fast. The company’s SoHo store received a shipment of 18 dresses on Tuesday but only had five left 24-hours later. “It was supposed to come in March or April, but they rushed it over because of high demand,” said Saeida Hmidan, a sales associate at the SoHo store. “People just started calling and asking for the Kate Middleton dress.” The ‘commoners’ frenzy’ to get the dress is part of a wider interest from Americans to emulate Kate’s style. After the future princess wore a blue wrap dress designed by Issa to announce her engagement to Prince William the garment rapidly sold out in stores and on the Internet.
