30 Rock star Tracy Morgan is recovering after having a kidney transplant. The actor, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996, will miss several episodes of his hit TV show after having the op earlier this month. “Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after his surgery,” his spokesperson said. “He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays.” Writers are understood to be planning to explain his absence from the show by saying he has a ‘meltdown because of a good thing that’s happened to him’, according to Entertainment Weekly. The actor is the second 30 Rock cast member to get a new kidney after Grizzwald “Grizz” Chapman, his sidekick on the show, had one earlier this year. Morgan was diagnosed with diabetes in 1996 and told Time last year he didn’t take the disease seriously at first. “Then one day I got really sick,” he said. “The doctor was like, ‘Hey, listen, we may have to take your foot.’ That was it for me. Now I take my insulin every day. My blood sugar doesn’t get over 120.”
