Body of Kitchen Nightmares man found floating in US river
The body of a man once savaged by Gordon Ramsay on his Kitchen Nightmares show has been found floating in a river, according to US reports. Married father-of-three Joseph Cerniglia was pulled from New York’s Hudson River after what police said appeared to be a suicide. According to New York Daily News, officials responded to a 911 call of a body floating in the water on Friday, not long after another caller reported seeing a man jump from the George Washington Bridge. Cerniglia owned Campania, a restaurant in New Jersey that was made over by Ramsay on his hit series. At one stage of the episode Ramsay, in front of customers, criticised the huge portions the self-taught chef served. It led to an on-camera shouting match, but eventually Cerniglia came to the celebrity chef’s way of thinking. According to an interview in New Jersey Monthly last year, the results were positive. “I almost feel guilty about how well it worked out for us,” he said. “I’m just extremely grateful we had the opportunity, and it was exactly what we needed to really get us from losing money to breaking even to making money now.” The cause of death is still under police investigation, but police have said they do not suspect ‘criminality.’
