Joan Rivers brought her husband’s ashes onto a US chat show in a bizarre interview.

The 77-year-old comedian appeared as a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman grasping a vial containing the remains of her former beau, Edgar Rosenberg who committed suicide in 1987.

She told the host: “I have Edgar with me,” as soon as she took her seat for her interview.

Letterman quizzed Rivers, asking: “This is your late husband?”

“Yes, I have his little bitty ashes,” Rivers explained.

“Do you carry his ashes everywhere you go?” asked a confused Letterman.

“Just when I go on late night because we were married for so long, so I like to say to him we’re back,” Rivers fired back.

Letterman then asked Rivers about all the plastic surgery she’s had over the years, admitting that the Joan Rivers he knew didn’t originally look like the Joan Rivers of today.

Rivers reasoned: “Our business is so youthful. You do little tweaks and if a woman or man wants to look good – do it.

“But I take that as a compliment. I’m just scared that when I die god won’t be able to recognize me,” Rivers then joked.
