Celeb photographer Annie Leibovitz inks deal with private investor
Celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz has enlisted the help of a private investment company to pull her out of a cavern of debt.
Leibovitz, the artful star photographer to Vanity Fair, will keep the rights to her celebrity images as part of the deal, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Among her most famous portraits are those of a pregnant and naked Demi Moore and those of Miley Cyrus (pictured). Leibovitz will work on a book series to showcase her work and a travelling exhibition of her photographs.
Leibovitz found herself mired in serious debt, owing $24million to Art Capital Group, and facing legal action. She had been planning to sell her art collection and homes in New York before a lawsuit was withdrawn last year. She has now signed a deal with private equity firm Colony Capital to get out of the mess. Leibovitz told the Financial Times: “We will be working on new projects and I will have the support and freedom necessary for nurturing my work and preserving my archive.”
