Fugitive director Roman Polanski, 76, has launched a legal action against photographers, alleging invasion of privacy.

Polanski is under house arrest at his chalet in the Swiss resort town of Gstaad after handing over $4.5 million in cash bail to Swiss authorities who arrested him in September.

Polanski is suing members of the paparazzi in a French court to the tune of £700,000, Britain’s Daily Telegraph reports. They have taken photos of his family on public land outside the chalet.

His lawyers claim that although Polanski is on bail, he is entitled to privacy. He is wanted in the US on 30-year-old child sex charges and the Swiss are weighing up a US request for his extradition.
