Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins split
Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have split after more than two decades together.
The couple, known for having one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting relationships, went their separate ways earlier this year, the actress’s rep has confirmed.
‘Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins, have announced that they separated over the summer,’ Teal Cannaday said. ‘No further comments will be made.’
Sarandon, 63, and Robbins, 51, met on the set of Bull Durham and have two sons together – 20-year-old Jack and 17-year-old Miles.
The couple had been admired for making their relationship last in the pressures of showbusiness.
But they were better known for their 12-year age gap and their refusal to marry.
‘I won’t marry because I am afraid of taking him for granted or him taking me for granted,’ Sarandon once said. ‘Maybe it will be a good excuse for a party when I am 80.’
Both Sarandon and Robbins are well-known liberal activists and took their children to the inauguration of US President Barack Obama in January.
Sarandon was previously married to her college sweetheart Chris Sarandon and also has a 24-year-old daughter, Eva, from a relationship with film director Franco Amurri.
She is starring in the Peter Jackman film The Lovely Bones, playing a grandmother who tries to hold her family together after the murder of their teenage daughter.
