Actor Alec Baldwin has donated $1m to New York University to establish a drama scholarship.

The 30 Rock star graduated from the institution’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1994.

The scholarship will recognise students at the school who demonstrate “an unwavering work ethic, development of leadership skills, willingness to collaborate, the ability to tolerate risk and the capacity to work with constructive criticism”, according to a statement released by NYU.

Baldwin, 51, is set to co-host next year’s Academy Awards ceremony on 7 March.
