Hollywood actor Denzel Washington is to make a return to Broadway to appear in a revival of the play Fences.
Washington, 54, last appeared on the Broadway stage in 2005 when he played Marcus Brutus in the play Julius Caesar.
He has signed up to play the patriarch in the Maxson family, Tony Maxson, which was originated by James Earl Jones.
A Raisin in the Sun’s Kenny Leon is negotiating to direct the movie, according to Variety.
It is claimed Washington will start rehearsals in February, with the play to be released in April for a 14-week run.
