A look cultivated by Blake Lively as Serena on Gossip Girl is taking off with all the windforce of Jennifer Aniston’s famously copied “Rachel” do, the New York Times reports.

Some hair is so good it has the power to shape dreams, apparently. John Barrett put it in a nutshell by saying, “It’s aspirational hair.”

“[They] don’t just want the hair, they want he life,” said Barrett who maintains a salon above the swanky Bergdorf Goodman.

Lively’s hair is of the same honey tones as Aniston’s Rachel in the long-running hit series Friends. The blow-dried cascading style achieved by wrapping the curls in a bun is actually reminiscent of the early 80s and a more innocent all-American girl look.

Nuri Yurt, of Madison Avenue’s Toka Salon said many of her clients are requesting the look. “Her hair right now is a big trend.”

Lively, 22, said she was unaware. “I didn’t really realise the extent of it. That’s always kind of odd, but unbelievably flattering,” she said.
