Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has bought a sea captain’s home in New York.

Radcliffe has reportedly bought one of West 12th Street’s most famous properties that was built by a sea captain for his daughter in 1847.

The news surfaced on real estate website RealEstalker.com, with the young actor reportedly paying $5.65 million for the renovated five-bedroom home.

But the price is just a drop in the ocean for Radcliffe, who is estimated to be worth over $100 million, thanks to his role in as the boy wizard in the hugely popular Potter franchise.

The new home purchase comes as Radcliffe, 20, is set to return to Broadway, following the huge success in 1997 of the play Equus.

This time he is set to read for the New York classic How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

If successful, the musical will be staged on Broadway under the direction and choreography of Rob Ashford.

Radcliffe said recently: “When all the guys who’ve been at drama school come out, they’ve been learning dance or singing and all that stuff and I’m going to need to compete with them because I won’t have Harry Potter as my safety net any more.

“I need to make myself as viable a choice for any part as I possibly can.”
