An offer she couldn’t refuse: Victoria Gotti tells more

Victoria Gotti, a Mafia daughter and New York celebrity, has published her memoir This Family of Mine: What It Was Like Growing up Gotti.

Gotti, 46, said she wanted to set the record straight about growing up in the legendary Gambino family, one of five major Mafia families with operations in New York.

She said in a TV interview: “I was eight years old, I was 10 years old. You believe what you want to believe. Later in life, things start to come together.”

Gotti was shielded from her father’s life in underground crime; John Gotti was sentenced to life in prison in 1992 for five murders and other serious crimes. He died of cancer in 2002.

Victoria said: “My family came to me and said: ‘Enough. When are you going to set the record straight’? They won out at the end, and I did it.”

Gotti was a columnist at the New York Post and Star Magazine. She is also the author of three novels (The Senator’s Daughter, I’ll Be Watching You and Superstar) and a cookbook (Hot Italian Dish).
