Donna Karan to party down under
Fashion queen Donna Karan will celebrate her 51st birthday in Australia, according to reports.
The New York-based designer, creator of the DKNY label, will be honoured at a special party to be held at Sydney’s Astral Restaurant this Friday.
While she is down under, Karan will also support the Nomad Two Worlds art project – put together by her friend, New York-based Australian photographer, Russell James – which was inspired by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s apology to the “stolen generations” in 2008, and features Aboriginal artists.
It has already premiered in New York at an event hosted by Aussie actor Hugh Jackman.
The Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am – who is currently in Australia with the band for a series of concerts – has produced a “Sorry” apology video message as part of the project.
On Saturday, Karan is expected to visit an Aboriginal community centre in Sydney.
