After going on a five-year hiatus, Deborah Cox is finally making her return to the Great White Way. She last performed on Broadway in the musical ‘Aida’, which Elton John wrote music for. The Broadway alum and 3-time JUNO-winning R&B singer will be taking the lead in a musical based on iconic American performer Josephine Baker. Josephine’s claim to fame was that she was a singer, dancer and actor in France in the 1930s and later became a civil rights activist in the US. I’m sure Deborah will do Josephine proud with her upcoming performances and I’m also sure that Broadway is happy to have her back.
