Canadian rising star Rachel McAdams realised she wanted to be a mother while acting for The Time Traveler’s Wife.

“Having a few [kids] would be great. Looking forward to it someday,” she said at the movie’s New York premiere.

Of her role in the film, she said: “I was excited and nervous about it because I haven’t done it before. It was a welcome challenge. The little girls [Hailey McCann and Tatum McCann] in this film were so fantastic. They are real sisters and they made my job really easy. So I didn’t have to work too hard at that.”

The Time Traveler’s Wife, which also stars Eric Bana, tells the story of a Chicago librarian with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel. McAdams, 30, added: “My mom is a great inspiration to me. She’s a nurse and very nurturing and gentle. She lets me be who I am. Hopefully I can take on those qualities and be as great as her.”
