Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall has revealed she can never forgive her bigamist grandfather.

She discovered George Baugh was married to two different women at the same time as she unearthed her family secrets on the UK show Who Do You Think You Are?

Cattrall told how she had been was captivated by her mother’s tales of her maternal grandfather Baugh, who disappeared from his Liverpool family home in 1938, leaving behind his three young daughters, including Kim’s mother, Shane, who was just eight.

The family slid into poverty as they believed Baugh was living a new life abroad, but Cattrall’s search on the show, which follows celebrities as they trace their family’s history, found a shocking secret instead.

Baugh had never gone abroad but instead, he was living just 40 miles away in Manchester and remarried with three children – even though her grandparents had never divorced, making George a bigamist.

Cattrall said: "Most families have a secret, an unsolved mystery, a black sheep or a rebel. You imbue that member with qualities you either most want to possess or deplore in others.

"How does one prepare for an awful truth? It’s unimaginable when you first hear it, and then you question how you could have thought otherwise. He was 28 when he left, so why wouldn’t he have gotten married again?"
