Two senior policemen are reportedly the target of an investigation into the Ohio burglary of the surrogate mother carrying Sarah Jessica Parker’s twins.

No charges have been laid in the case as yet, but the officers, Martins Ferry police chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport police chief Chad DoJack, are under suspicion for breaking into the woman’s Martins Ferry home in May to steal photos and other items, it was reported.

The pair allegedly planned to sell the items to a tabloid. The woman, Michelle Ross, who is carrying girls due in July, is said to have moved out of the area.

Parker and husband Matthew Broderick, parents of a six-year-old boy, live in New York. Parker’s publicist Simon Halls in a statement said: “Matthew and Sarah Jessica have complete faith in the legal system.

“But because it’s a criminal investigation we will not be making any more comment. What I can say is the entire family looks forward to the healthy delivery of their daughters later on this summer.”

Parker, 44, star of Sex and the City, previously said the woman’s computer had been hacked into and she had received threats. At the time of the burglary her identity was not known but may have been sought, police said.
