Donald Trump’s plan to build a 1 billion golf course in Scotland is being fought by a fisherman whose land he needs to complete the course
Donald Trump’s plan to build a £1 billion golf course in Scotland is being fought by a fisherman whose land he needs to complete the course.
Michael Forbes, 57, owns 23 acres of land, and Trump has tried to force the man to sell him the land so he can create the "world’s greatest golf course".
Under Scottish law, any person can apply for planning permission on a property or land that does not belong to them.
Trump has already applied for planning permission for the golf course so Forbes is also planning to apply for planning permission to turn Trump’s historic mansion Menie House into a scrapyard.
Trump has previously offered Forbes £375,000 for the land, as well as a £50,000-a-year job at the development.
Michael said: "I am going to submit a planning application to Aberdeenshire Council to build the world’s greatest scrapyard at Menie House. I will pile up old lorries, tractors and cars right up to the front door."
He added: "I am sure I will get plenty of offers of scrap from all over the country. There is plenty of room for it. I can’t stop Trump making a planning application for my land but he needn’t bother, as I will never sell it to him."
A spokesman for Trump reportedly said they were feeling "optimistic" over their plans.
