Al Pacino to star as ‘Dr Death’
Actor Al Pacino is in talks to play so-called ‘Dr Death’, Dr Jack Kevorkian, in a new movie role, according to reports.
Kevorkian, the advocate of doctor-assisted suicide, was convicted of second-degree murder in 1999.
You Don’t Know Jack will be directed by Oscar-winning Rain Man director Barry Levinson.
Kevorkian assisted in more than 150 cases of suicide and was found guilty of second-degree murder 10 years ago after he videotaped a procedure involving a terminally ill man and sent it to the US television show 60 Minutes.
The 81-year-old received a 10- to 25-year sentence but was paroled last June.
At one stage, Ben Kingsley was due to play Kevorkian in the film, which has been in development for some time.
The movie will appear on US premium cable channel HBO.
