Actor Kevin Bacon was mugged at a New York subway station and had his BlackBerry phone stolen, according to reports in the US.

The Footloose star tried to chase his mugger, police sources said, but the man managed to get away.

The New York Post reports: “Bacon didn’t give up the BlackBerry easily. The star took off after the crook, but lost track of him as he raced through the station’s crowd.”

NYC Transit officials said no subway personnel were told about the crime, although sources said Bacon, 50, did call police.

NYPD officials could not confirm that a report was filed concerning the robbery.

A spokesman for Bacon was unavailable for comment.
