Calvin Klein builds smaller home

It’s a sign of the tough economic times.
Calvin Klein has begun demolishing his $30 million New York mansion to make way for a SMALLER home.
Klein has been bidding to tear down the lavish 55,000 square foot home in the posh Hamptons area of Long Island, nicknamed Dragon’s Head, and replace it with a more modest, modern structure.
And he has been granted permission by planning officials to go ahead with his plans, after workmen were seen knocking down the walls of the huge house, which he bought in 2003, on Wednesday.
The design guru’s new home will be a fraction of the size of Dragon’s Head – it will span 17,000 square feet and will be spread between three buildings connected by underground tunnel, it has been reported.
A representative for Klein was unavailable for comment.
