Rush and Elton scoop NY awards for stage

Australian Geoffrey Rush, an Oscar-winning actor, took out a prestigious drama award for his work in last year’s Broadway production Exit The King.
Rush, who has built his career on a string of films, won the 54th annual Drama Desk award in New York for the theatrical show that was launched in Sydney and Melbourne in 2007.
Billy Elliot The Musical won 10 prizes, among them an award for Elton John for his outstanding score and to Stephen Daldry for direction.
"It’s been an amazing experience," said John of the smash hit production.
"It’s made an incredible impact on my life."
