Roy Scheider Dies

Sure, the name may mean nothing to many of you, but cue the music and you remember. Roy Scheider was the police chief who managed to save an entire beach resort from the biggest shark known to man. He played in both the 1975 release of Jaws and its sequel.
Roy Scheider died Sunday at the age of 75. He had multiple myeloma, which is cancer of the plasma cells.
He began professionally acting with the New York Shakespeare Festival when he portrayed Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet. He was later nominated for an Oscar for his role in The French Connection. He later received a second nomination for starring in All That Jazz.
He is survived by his wife, three children, two grandchildren, and a brother.
