Gwyneth Paltrow may be devoted to yoga and organic food, but she’s not all clean-living: “She has the raunchiest sense of humor,” her pal Ross “The Intern” Mathews told Sunday.

“I think we click because I can be quite dirty and filthy,” Mathews, 27, said at the Odd Molly fashion show in Los Angeles. “Like I have the mouth of a sailor, and she really appreciates that.”

How did the Oscar-winning actress and the Tonight Show correspondent become pals in the first place? “It was my first Oscars,” Mathews explained. “I was covering the Vanity Fair party, and she was walking down the red carpet and I said, ‘Will you be my best friend?’ And she said ‘Yes!’ And I gave her my e-mail address and the next morning had an e-mail from her. And we have e-mailed now for … it’s been going five years.”

Added Mathews: “And whenever she’s in town, we get together and have dinner, lunch and I go visit her on set and I even went to London to hang out with her. It’s crazy.”

When Paltrow ? a 34-year-old mother of two ? was in Los Angeles filming Iron Man, the pair went to dinner at Orso.

“Well, we’ve been through everything from like relationships and breakups and our fathers died around the same time, and so we’ve run the gamut of sort of like emotions,” Mathews said. “And so it went from being sort of like a funny ‘Oh my god, Gwyneth Paltrow’s my friend!’ to like she’s someone I can talk to about this and that I can’t really talk to a lot of people about. And we’ve really grown to relate and love each other, and it’s wonderful.”

Mathews, who appeared on Celebrity Fit Club earlier this year, he’s “like 50-some” pounds down and admitted that even though he talks to Paltrow, he still likes to follow stories about her, too.

“I read about it in all the magazines because I’m still a fan,” he said.
