Fashion designer Liz Claiborne, whose styles became a cornerstone of career women’s wardrobes in the 1970s and 1980s, has died, the company she founded said Wednesday. She was 78. Claiborne, who retired from the day-to-day operations in 1989, founded Liz Claiborne Inc. in 1976 along with second husband Art Ortenberg and Leonard Boxer. Their goal was to create a collection of fashions aimed at the growing number of women entering the work force. In the 1970?s surely there weren?t many women who would have thought of starting a fashion and imagined that thirty years after it would still be a brand flourishing under her name. Hat?s off to the lady who created her own fashion label and a company with her own name. Though I really do not know anything about her life and related stuff it?s evident that the person?s achievements are far reaching and truly international.
