He has been the international face of bollywood for many years now. Though he has not acted in Hollywood movies but yet has been the most recognized face of the Indian film industry. This overseas popularity can be mainly attributed to the millions on Indian nationals living all over the world, giving Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan access to international fame. But it is purely because of his superlative performances at the box office over a period of four decades that has made him an icon and a legend. Recently two of his movies were released in India and both were on the topics of an elderly person falling in love with a woman of much younger age. Such movies have already been aplenty in Hollywood and some have been made in India too. The really issue that is taking centre stage is whether or not a senior artist like Amitabh Bachchan should act and depict such roles as his image is rather one of a family person. The first was ?Nishabd?, which means speechless with a first time actress from America and the other is with an Indian movie star Tabu. Amitabh has said that there is no wrong in doing such roles as he picks a movie for its script & the role and not for money. In the year 2000 he was voted as the star of the millennium in a poll conducted by BBC to the surprise of many.
